We believe in treating our employees and the communities we serve like family. That’s why in times of need, Core‑Mark commits to providing relief and assistance wherever possible.
When Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas, Core‑Mark acted with urgency. We used our own trucks and expansive supply chain to deliver food and water to first responders and customers in affected areas.
For employees who were displaced from their homes due to flooding, Core‑Mark created a relief fund via GoFundMe. With company-wide support, the funds covered hotel rooms and assisted affected employees during their recovery time. “You do it because it’s the right thing to do and don’t expect anything back because the people impacted have enough going on. You’re just trying to make it a little easier for them,” said Jerry Bell, the Director of Finance and former Division President, Fort Worth.
In 2018, California wildfires ravaged the West Coast, and once again our team rallied around the community. We sent over 2,500 cases of water to residents and firefighters on the front lines and offered our employees reimbursement for hotels, moving costs and ongoing support. “Seeing the drivers and employees who went out of their way to continue delivering to stores and helping those impacted just showed how connected they were as a team and as a family,” said Sacramento-based Human Resources Generalist, Stephanie Erwin.
