Position Summary:

The Router position is an individual contributor role responsible for creating routes, managing routes, calculating delivery routes, times of deliveries and makes the necessary adjustments for drivers and customers. The Router role reports to the Transportation Manager or Routing Supervisor and normally works a Sunday through Thursday shift. The Router role works with numerous routing and software systems. The Router role requires strong attention to detail and process skills. The Router may interact with drivers, sales, transportation, warehouse and customer service personnel at management discretion. The Router functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duties assigned to best serve the company.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Establish and optimize delivery routes that are cost-effective, compliant with Federal DOT regulations, and maintain high levels of customer service and satisfaction. Utilize Roadnet to ensure delivery costs align with company performance expectations year over year.
  • Develop routing procedures and schedules that maximize the efficient use of both personnel and equipment while prioritizing driver safety.
  • Perform daily maintenance within Roadnet to ensure customer and route data remains accurate and up to date, including:
    • Customer geo-coding, delivery schedules, time windows, service times, and account requirements.
    • Route start times, pre-/post-trip activities, depot assignments, travel modes, driver and equipment assignments, and DOT compliance settings.
    • Equipment planning related to capacity, restrictions, maintenance, and cost management.
  • Work within DEV400/Gemini to upload customer orders into the preferred platform for routing and dispatch execution.
  • Collaborate with the entire Transportation team within the HighJump WMS to utilize the Load Builder function daily, ensuring efficient load planning, route optimization, and equipment utilization.
  • Review and analyze previous day's routing performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and make adjustments to standard routes as necessary.
  • Generate route maps and driving instructions for drivers assigned to unfamiliar routes.
  • Produce and distribute nightly driver manifest reports.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to routing efficiency, transportation costs, customer service, and operational execution.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience

1-3 years distribution, logistics, transportation or related work experience.

Basic/Intermediate computer skills including various software applications and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Preferred qualifications:

3 - 5 years distribution, logistics, transportation routing and/or related administrative experience

Intermediate/Advanced computer skills including routing software applications (Roadnet, AS400) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
