- Salary: Starting hourly rate of $30.50 factored into Delivery Driver pay structure which is based on stops made, cubes delivered and kilometers driven
- Schedule: Based on a 4x10 schedule however the role requires flexibility as hours may vary based on the needs of the business
- Travel: Our customers are located in Eastern BC, AB, Western SK, NWT, YK; you may be required to work in-town, out-of-town, on overnights (0-3 nights depending on route), and/or as a team driver, based on seniority
Position Purpose:
Food and food service Delivery Drivers play a critical role in the country's food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only make sure the customers' products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition, but they are the face of our company - building lasting relationships with our customers!
The Class 1 Delivery Driver is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck for the purpose of delivering food and food related products to customers in a safe and timely manner. Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs duties as assigned to best serve the company.
Responsibilities:
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment, paperwork, and loaded product.
- Performs damage control and count check of items against customer invoices for loaded product.
- Maintains daily electronic driving logs.
- Drives to customer locations and delivers orders according to pre-determined route delivery schedule in a safe/responsible manner, and in compliance with all laws and transportation regulations.
- Follows all regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
- Notifies supervisory team of any route changes, time delays, etc.
- Unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas.
- Loads customer returns on to trailer for return to warehouse.
- Unloads damaged goods and customer returns, and brings to the driver check-in and with required completed paperwork.
- Checks and completes, in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight.
- Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
- Ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secure at all times.
- Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in driver log in accordance with department of transportation and company requirements.
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Valid Class 1 Driver's License.• Clean 5-year Commercial Driver's Abstract.
• Meet all provincial licensing and/or certification requirements.
• A minimum of 1-year commercial driving experience.
• Point of delivery (POD) scanning system experience.
• Customer service/delivery experience.
• Proven leadership qualities and/or aspirations to lead are considered an asset.
• Pass a road test.
• Pass a criminal record check.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions including rain, snow, etc.
• Ability to hand-lift and utilize a two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges between 10-35lbs and up to 60-90lbs at times.
