Job Summary:
We are seeking a strategic, results-driven Commodity Buyer to lead the procurement of fresh protein products, including beef, pork, lamb, and veal. This role requires a strong understanding of protein market dynamics and the ability to make profitable buying decisions that support business goals and customer needs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned fresh protein commodities.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain conditions to inform purchasing decisions.
- Make timely and profitable buying decisions based on market intelligence and business objectives.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to optimize cost and ensure product availability.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, consistency, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including supply chain, quality assurance, and category management.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and company policies.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and innovation.
- Strong understanding of protein markets and commodity pricing.
- Proven ability to interpret market trends and make sound, profitable purchasing decisions.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience1 - 2 years of purchasing experience or related area
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree: Business, supply chain or related area2 - 4 years of purchasing experience or related area within the foodservice industry
