The Senior Director, Corporate Safety provides strategic direction and leadership for safety at Core-Mark, and is responsible for creating and implementing companywide safety programs. He/she is a member of the HR and Operations Leadership team and is a key policy-maker across the company. He/she works closely with operational leaders to understand business needs, apply best practices and ensure regulatory compliance. The successful candidate is highly driven and focused on creating and reinforcing a culture of safety through our employees, overseeing and creating recommended changes to our Environmental, Health and Safey programs, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
·Leads the company’s safety efforts and collaborates with executives, managers and employees to develop and drive behavior-based safety programs that supports a 24/7 safety culture at all levels.
·Develops corporate and organizational policies and manages their implementation companywide.
·Understands the regulatory environment affecting Core-Mark and manages regulatory compliance with all global regulations, includes serving as the company SRM for all regulatory agency and client audits.
·Oversees and assist facilities with Local, State and Federal regulatory compliance, including OSHA, EPA, DOT & DHS State and local agencies.
·Tracks change and provides guidance and training on all EH&S topics.
·Promotes companywide EH&S awareness and creates, leads and participates in corporate and divisional safety committees.
·Establishes and maintains a culture focused on continuous improvement; leads improvements in process design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize future hazardous potential.
·Recommends and maintains annual budgeting and allocation for all EH&S needs in collaboration with the division leadership.
Skills & Experiences:
·Bachelor’s degree in Safety related discipline or other related degree
·12+ years in EH&S capacity, including 5 years of managing safety programs and/or leading safety teams.
·Proven experience in creating and/or implementing safety programs companywide is required.
·Experience working in a decentralized environment with multiple locations is preferred.
·Certification in safety (CSP or other), currently held or in process.
·Subject matter expert in regulatory requirements under OSHA, EPA, DOT.
·Ability to travel 20-30%.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
The position requires regular visits to our facilities and various safety checks, work-withs, etc. Therefore, the position requires the following:
·Physical ability to regularly lift, carry, and position: up to 10 lbs. regularly, up to 25 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally.
·Physical ability to handle objects, tools, and/or controls.
·Physical ability to stand for a significant period of time and walk continuously.
·Physical ability to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, or crawl.
·May require the ability to operate and/or be certified on various powered equipment.
·The warehouse environment will have exposure to a variety of noise and potential extremes in temperature.
