Provide administrative support to the Director of Transportation, Transportation Manager, and the Transportation Department.


• Track mileage by tractors & trailers, as well as reefer hours.

Assist Transportation Department as needed and directed by the Director of Transportation or the Transportation Manager, including answering telephones, making calls, typing, and preparing reports as needed and directed.

• Other duties as assigned by Management.


• Maintain an adequate supply of fuel for the fleet by tracking usage and ordering as needed.

Track driver’s Peoplenet and safe driving miles, and prepare reports as needed and directed.

Check tractor odometer readings to ensure that each mile is accounted for, and report differences as directed by Transportation Management.

Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as needed and directed by Director of Transportation or Transportation Manager.

Prepare transportation weekly payroll, forward to VP/GM for review, and transmit to Corporate Payroll Central as directed by VP/GM.

Breakdown and review driver’s paperwork. Check driver logs, fuel receipts, and ETA reports for accuracy. Maintain monthly recap of driver logs.

Arrange for the payment of bills for the department

Backhauls - schedule pickup, appointments, assign to routes

Make alarm code changes in AS400 for stores and drivers

• Notify customers of late trucks


• A high school diploma/GED plus 1 – 2 years of data entry experience is needed.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including spreadsheets and tables.

Transportation industry experience is preferred

Good interpersonal communication skills

Organized and detail oriented


Work is primarily sedentary in nature. More than half the day is spent on data entry. You must be able to communicate via telephone and in person to shippers, vendors, customer, and other company personnel. Some filing is required.


You must be able to read text that is close and at a distance with or without correction. In addition you must be able to perform manual task, hear, sit, reach, lift, bend, communicate and interact with others.


Most of the day is spent in an office environment.


General office equipment including but not limited to a calculator, copier, facsimile machine, CRT, PC computer and printer.
