Account Manager

Company Description:

We are looking for an onsite Account Manager to work on-site at GPM Investments Corporate Office in Richmond, VI. The Account Manager will work as the liaison between South West Corporate Office and the Core-Mark Divisions to provide support and resolve customer related issues.

The Account Manager will manage the process and client activities. There is no direct supervision or responsibilities and will report directly to the Core-Mark Account Executive for GPM. Individual must have strong Customer Service/Customer Management experience. Background in Food Service is a huge plus. Must be reliable, self-motivated and independent (please review requirements, prior to applying).

Responsibilities:

First / Primary Merchandise Contact:

  • Category Management needs
  • Product and vendor administration
  • Other day-to-day interaction

All promotional activity regardless of frequency:

  • Core-Mark promotional opportunities
  • Coordinate the set-up of items in the Core-Mark system
  • Monthly and quarterly promotions with accounts buyers
  • Coordination and communication of promotions to Core-Mark Divisions
  • Follow up to ensure product shipped in timely fashion to all stores

Work with Items:

  • Addition and deletion of authorized items
  • Setting and maintaining customer retail files where needed
  • Communicate item add and deletes to all divisions with time frames

Inventory control:

  • Work with Core-Mark divisions and customer to identify and move out slow and left over product from regular stock and promotions.
  • Work with divisions to monitor fill rates to ensure best possible performance
  • Communicate projected movements on new items from customer to Core-Mark buyers

Work with Operational Personnel:

  • Communication with customer field management where needed
  • Involved in route issues to stores and help rectify with servicing division
  • Communicate proper procedures from time to time (credits, times, delivery)
  • Handle questions of promotional timing

Sales Growth:

  • Work with customer to present Core-Mark programs and sales initiatives (SmartStock, Boondoggles, Phone Cards etc…)
  • Work with category managers to ensure they are seeing Core-Mark item
  • Offerings when looking at vendor programs (sunglasses, coffee)

Requirements:

  • 5 year’s work experience in customer management
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, PowerPoint, word) a must
  • Purchasing Background a plus, not required
  • Background as a sales/account manager a plus
  • Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction
  • Energetic, Positive, Can-Do Attitude
  • Superior analytical skills, ability to mine data and construct metrics
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills
